General questions about the Moonlight Walk

Q. What is the Moonlight Walk?

A. The Moonlight Walk is organised by Willowbrook Hospice to raise valuable funds for the Hospice. It is a 10km walk through St Helens and Knowsley passing the Hospice. The Moonlight Walk is a ladies only sponsored event beginning at 10pm.

Q. When will the Moonlight Walk take place?

A. The Moonlight Walk will take place on Saturday 6th June 2009 at 10pm.

Q. How old do you have to be to enter?

A. Ladies of any age can take part but girls (very sorry boys) under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by adults at all times during the Moonlight Walk. Each entrant under 18 must complete an entry form and have it signed by the guardian who will be accompanying them on the night. The guardian must also complete a separate entry form and submit all forms at the same time.

Q. Can men take part?

A. No! Sorry, boys. However, if men wish to help out at the event we are always looking for safety stewards. If you know someone who may be interested in helping out please contact Diane on 01744 453798 or e-mail diane@willowbrookhospice.org.uk

Q. How do I enter?

A. Entries for the Moonlight Walk will be opening from
January 2008 and you can apply by completing the entry form
included in this pack. Entries close on Friday 22nd May 2009.

Q. How much does it cost to enter?

A. The entry fee for the Moonlight Walk is £15. Your entry fee will include your t-shirt, refreshments, finishing medal, training guide, and information booklet with everything you will need to get started.

Q. How much sponsor money do I have to raise?

A. Willowbrook Hospice asks everyone to endeavour in raising a minimum of £100 through sponsorship – but any sponsorship is welcome. You may be surprised at how much you can actually raise!

Q. Do I need to prepare for the Moonlight Walk?

A. We ask everyone that enters the Moonlight Walk to prepare themselves by carrying out a personal training programme. The Moonlight Walk is a challenge which you will take at night when you should be resting. You will be sent a training programme when you enter.

Q. How do I find out if I have a place?

A. We will send you a Confirmation Pack within 28 days of your entry fee being received. This pack will contain your sponsor form, training guide and all the information you need. If you provide an e-mail address on your entry form the Confirmation Pack will be sent to this address to help us reduce administration costs.

Q. When will I find out more details about the actual night?

A. We will send out your final pack including your t-shirt and further information a couple of weeks before the Moonlight Walk.

Q. What time do I need to arrive at the start?

A. The evening will start at 8pm with entertainment however you must be signed in by 9.30pm at the very latest. The Moonlight Walk will start at 10pm prompt. We cannot hold the Moonlight Walk back for those who have not signed in on time.

Q. Can I find out the route of the Moonlight Walk?

A. The Moonlight Walk route will be sent to you in your Confirmation Pack.

Q. Can I still be involved in the Moonlight Walk if I don’t want to walk?

A. Why not help out on the night? There are many ways in which you can help with the Moonlight Walk. Call Diane on 01744 453798 for more details or e-mail diane@willowbrookhospice.org.uk

Q. Can I raise money for another charity?

A. Everyone fundraising for the Moonlight Walk is raising money for Willowbrook Hospice. The money you raise for the Moonlight Walk cannot be given in part or full to any other charity. This is an illegal offence.

Q. If I don’t get a place can I hold my own Moonlight Walk?

A. You can hold a walking event of your own to support the Moonlight Walk but you cannot call it the Moonlight Walk. Call Diane on 01744 453798 for more details or e-mail diane@willowbrookhospice.org.uk

Q. Do I have to send my sponsor money before the event?

A. No. If you have collected sponsor money already you can pass it into the Fundraising Office if you do not wish to keep hold of it yourself. We ask that all sponsorship money is received by Willowbrook within a couple of months after the Moonlight Walk. Please do not bring sponsor money to the event.

Q. Can I wear last year’s t-shirt?

A. If you wish to wear your t-shirt from 2008 please tick the box on the entry form. If you require a new t-shirt please indicate your size.
